A typical "action sequence" consists of men riding motor bikes over hills or a poorly choreographed fight. Despite the number of times I've been burned by James Franco's directorial efforts (check out my review of "The Institute," a movie stolen by. It's somewhat surprising that the production landed Liu and Jovovich. Future World may be intended as an art film masquerading as an action movie -- or vice versa -- but it succeeds as neither. This is a movie in which one character says, "I wish I could see a tree" while trees are actually visible in the shot. Yes, they're out of focus, but come now.
