Awakening the Zodiac might be interesting to check out as late-night TV fare, but the overall film will make you want to Awakening the Zodiac has a slapdash feel that strains to fill the big screen. There is no linking or other HTML allowed. Dead or alive this movie makes for a quick fun thriller. The Zodiac is 'back' lol Tapes have been found and reward money is on the line, so lets find out. "Awakening The Zodiac" definitely could have benefitted from this rule. Now, before I get into picking apart this thriller, I do want to go on record saying: the cinematography is incredibly well done! It surprises you given that you've probably never heard of this movie before. Thank you for rating this movie!

Awakening the Zodiac spends two-thirds of its running time as a solidly-crafted thriller with a strong set of characters before shooting itself in the foot in the third act. Those later issues don't completely derail the film, but they lessen what until that point had been a surprisingly effective indie chiller. As someone who has always been fascinated by The Zodiac Killer and the subsequent investigation and theories I was really excited to check out this new film recently released on VOD.
While some violence takes place off screen, what does appear is brutal and bloody: The Zodiac shoots a couple in their car, stabs another couple in the back (the victims' pained, horrified faces are shown both times), and shoots a. Jennifer Archer, Mike Horrigan and Jonathan Wright. Jonathan Wright's new cheapie horror flick Awakening the Zodiac replicates that opening scene, which is only fair, as it starts off telling the same story, that of the never-caught California serial killer. A couple buy a storage unit, finding evidence of the Zodiac Killer and try to solve the case.
