Bloodbath and Beyond reviews the movie Empire of the Sharks directed by Mark Atkins and starring John Savage, Jack Armstrong, Thandi Sebe, Ashley de Lange, and Leandie du Randt. For a shark movie then "Empire of the Sharks" was not overly impressive or particularly enjoyable. It is just another movies in an endless line of less than Visually, even when knowing what to expect, 'Empire of the Sharks' still looks really cheap.
I say this because Empire of the Sharks has it's sights firmly set on being a B-Movie Waterwold. As crazy as that sounds (and trying to emulate one of the historically most expensive movies ever made on a fraction of the budget sounds absolutely mental), they actually do a decent job. When a watery warlord with an army of fish faces a fantastical foe sharks fly in this sci-fi horror.
On a future Earth where most of the surface is underwater, a warlord who controls an army of lethal fish meets his match in a mysterious shark caller. EMPIRE OF THE SHARKS is back kicking off Sharknado Week Tomorrow! The monster shark movie has become a genre of its own - terrible, loud and silly. but utterly enjoyable. When Empire Of The Sharks unleashes the craziness it can be undemanding fun, but those moments are few and far between. The movie is ultimately very skippable for all but the biggest shark movie fans, which a shame because the concept could have been a lot of fun with the right execution. In the future, most of Earth is covered by water.
